ander-traxx is a fresh label operating out of glasgow with the intent of releasing righteous underground house, and although mainly a platform for the labels founder alex-ander to showcase his own productions, ander-traxxs remit also includes the presentation of unknown talent for future releases. for this first release, alex steps up to the plate to deliver because of me, followed by 3 remixes from artists born and raised in glasgow. the original kicks things off with its intro of glacial pads and jittery hats, before quickly delving into a seriousely deep groove brimming with melodic layers. although because of me gives a strong nod to the recent developements of producers like omar s and kyle hall, it undoubtedly has the hallmarks of an alex-ander production, his unique arrangements coming to the forefront while still complimenting the crisp percussion that drives the track forward. carlos nilmmns (co founder of the formidable solab production unit) mix is a much more off-kilter and submerged affair. nilmmns plays down the epic quality of the original and adds chugging rhythmics and sweetcured piano work for a lesson in divine repetition. mesumas feedback mix goes in for the dancefloor attack, not surprising for a gentleman whos previous work has seen releases on hardgroove and seventh sign. rolling toms and a booming kick meet aquatic vocal samples and spectral harmonicas, and will still please those partial to deeper sounds. last up to give because of me the rework treatment is meschi (lunar disko, lux, snuff traxx), who mixes his chicago influenced analogue stylings perfectly with the source material. stripped down crescendos build up to a euphoric drop, and meschis elated melodies bring another twist to this excercise in deep funk. because of me is one of those rare e.ps that works just as well in a non-club enviroment as it does on the dancefloor. with this warning shot, alex-ander will surely be capturing the ears of many in 2012 and beyond.

keeping up their ethos of dancefloor >edits with the love left in< hmd bounce back on a1 with monster from their 3rd compilation. never before released as a 12 inch and much in demand from djs who have heard it in hmd sets, its a whole horse meat disco original track laid out underneath the original vocal acapella. playable peak time or at the end of the night its as deep as disco gets! on b1 a majestic and imperial take on a classic one more time the hmders push the way too short original track and lengthen it into a luscious, euphoric anthem. hmd take all responsibility for end of the night spontaneous dancefloor hug-ins. on b2 the boys have taken the squelchy synths of a real underground track and turned up the intensity that they felt seem to disapated in the original. keeping the vocals pretty much as they are including all the whoops and yelps that make the track so exciting hmd have stayed true to the original but have just given it the horse meat touch. a bit of added percusion and a whole lotta love.

introducing a new outlet called mojuba jouem for a special project of a special artist. jouem hailing from the fantastic berlin based imprint just another beat graces mojuba with a series of releases called episodes to be seen as a whole conceptual piece of art. this talent gained a lot of attention through his fabulous two releases drifting ep and levitation ep and is now back to continues his musical journey!

short stories is the fruition of musical ideas brought forth by label owner / chief producer gabriel ananda and multitalented instrumentalist and vocalist alice rose. the two of them have come together to resurrect a project from 2001 and have put together a colorful mix of strings, vocals, and melodies. there is something familiar and comforting in the sound of this ep. it could be roses strings, which were introduced with her debut for basmati food for dreams (basmati 06), or elements of anandas live series, there is an aspect to the sound that just fits. ananda and rose have delivered the complete package. the a-side opens with the not-so-short short stories, a fourteen minute evolving trip covering the scope of both producers’ talents. the b-side contains two versions of “struck by light. the techno version comes with power and emotion, crafted for the dance floor, which is followed by the deeper, original version recorded for the first time in 2001.

as we all know, there is a first time for everything. in this case, its even a debut for both: the tensnake co-run label mirau and iron curtis.

chez damiers balance recordings brings this 4 track ep from shaka to the imprint & starts with a jazzy back to basic mix of the title cut. kool aid follows in deep dancefloor fashion. laying in my bed (rework mix) on the flip is a perfect dub & just dancing (a synthella mix) ends smoothly.

nice price deal !!! flying the flag for the kazakhstan, command strange has been making waves in the electronic music circles in recent months, with releases penned in for metalheadz, grid recordings and integral. he now switches tempos with two accomplished, rugged and soulful dubstep productions. this excursion into the 130-140bpm tempos shows just how versatile a producer he is, as he crafts a sound that is unmistakeably his.

perception productions, a new york based label that ran from the late 60s through until 1974, was a strangely eclectic affair. its roster stretched from a radical afro-american poet through to the pop band king harvest whose hit ‘dancing in the moonlight’ became a massive hit for the uk band toploader a couple of decades later. the inbetween points covered jazz, funk, vocal harmony soul and proto-disco.

played and supported by norman nodge, samuli kemppi, inigo kennedy, samuel l session, colin dale, dvs1, developer, alan fitzpatrick, cassegrain, markus suckut, phil kieran, max_m and more. darkcell shows the new release on vinyl, just the third for his own label. his style is clearly defined. one track signed by the labels owner, and others two tracks signed myk derill (reform, knotweed, etc). darkcell transmitted in its track an atmosphere of modern techno. a slow techno rhythm, repetitive with something of psychedelic. a sort of brainwashing that will lead to total body hypnosis. the two tracks by myk derill are the same style. the first track (apply) is definitely very rough with a syncopated rhythm . the second (contemporary) is much more in the direction of dub-techno. only high quality in the fluxus records vinyl.

hot on the heels of midlands placement ep, aus returns with a remix 12inch featuring lone & motor city drum ensemble. both producers deliver deep, melodic reinterpretations of the originals, with lone accentuating midlands signature sound (whilst flawlessly incorporating his own neon tinged atmospherics) and mcde dubbing out the original, pushing it into throbbing raw cuts territory. both producers are at the top of their game. lone is dominating 2012 with a residency at manchester hot-spot hoya:hoya, a full length dropping in may via r&s that will surely occupy the top of many year end lists, and remixes for radiohead, tensnake & underworld already under his belt. jazz enthusiast motor city drum ensembles sample-based raw cuts series made him a household name within the deep house scene and last years dj-kicks mix set him apart from the pack with its on point mixing and musical diversity. his notable november 2011 boiler room set is considered one of the finest, and is just another example of why mcde has been, and will remain to be, a musical force to be reckoned with. next up on aus will be an ep from bicep & friends with a remix from panoramabar resident steffi.

for uzuri 018 we return to one of our home grown artists – jitterbug. time has flown since his last release for us in 2010, but we have been quite eager to get some new material out from him for a while – and, based on feedback we have had, plenty of other people are keen to hear more from him too. both his raw winter and beaten trax eps were pretty popular releases for us and his dj appearances always create a stir, so we are pleased to bring you this, the arcane theory ep. the track sequencing on this record is pretty aggressive – front-loaded with the confrontational rise of the machines. a track that really lives up to its title, sounding like the production line at cyberdyne systems… all stomp and evil synths, like a bad mood e-dancer. fallout couldnt be further from that – relaxed and making no attempt at all to get in your face. itll win you over, though. just a nice, deep groove and a lovely, phased beat. could play it for hours… the whole of the flip is devoted to nomads, a chiming, acidic wander. nearly eleven minutes in length. the kicks never at the fore on this one – most of the action occurs at the mid and high frequencies – a resonant 303, lots of hi hats and, later, synths which expand on the eastern-flavour of the track title

part 2/3! deep house – uh killer?! dear gorge just like we know him. hardly anyone puts so much energy into a yet so low key appearing track and this is what we love him for. gorge was a history witness for our biggest light installation and the most oppulent feast, as is his right. certified ass-shaking tune with a joyous organ going hand in hand with a female vocal. there is no more to say about this track as it speaks for itself. reminiscing igors 10 minute intro in combat gear at the treibgut deluxe. some push did jonas put into this few minute collaboration track with mz sunday luv. it has to be loud, it has to run – it has to take its place on this compilation. homebased in frankfurt jonas was so fond of hannover at a time that he almost moved north. but we could not afford the hotel room for such a long time. deep house making you get rid of your jacket and shake your hips together. get yourself a drink at the bar and head for the dancefloor. nicely smooth this track is driving you into the night. the only night we actually had champagne and still could all make it to the train to hamburg in the morning.

part 3/3! close your eyes and let go. born in hannover daso enchanted us with this track. it is constantly building up until sunrise. this is how we got to know daso when he was playing his first gig at a treibgut getting our guests up and going. in hannover this night is known as the topless-party-animals-night. not many are as familiar with the treibgut sound as mario aureo proving with this tune. a year ago it was all hands up at treibgut but know we set it free to be passionately celebrated at other parties. leave the orchestra in rehearsals – until they have finished we keep on celebrating to the deep bassline for the plane has just landed. moritz approached this tune verytooly. we just remember him setting up stage for the party, ordering pizza and watching football. frieder, our youngest member, never looses the concept of time and spaces but this track has so much atmosphere in it that you can imagine which cloud he is on. the track comes in easy-going leaving you floating to the end

the majestys pleasure label returns after an extended break with their fourth issue of disco-centric edits and its clear the time out of the spotlight has left this mystery bunch of dusty fingered tweakers fully refreshed. whilst previous volumes have dipped toes in funk filled and philly string led waters, majestys pleasure vol 4 focuses fully on music from the post-disco /proto-house period of the 1980s and sounds very much like a beautiful swimmers dj set condensed into just 12 inches of vinyl. the concerted diggers out there will be consulting their sample notes for the source material on each of these (space palace has the most obvious hook) whilst those whove simply been enjoying output from the intermittent eros label will love both sides here

the fact that they are the hottest band in the buzzing spanish independent music scene in itself may not be enough to stop the presses, nor are all the comparisions to the black keys or the band citing motorhead as their main influence. its hard to break into the crowded new band scene, but let us give you a piece of advice before deciding who should stop the presses - just sit and listen to the album first.
a text like this usually tries to say how great the group is and how new and fresh their songs are. in this case, we are going to try to save time and space, and just talk about the right ons.

the german band the audience was founded in 2003 in nürnberg and released their first album >celluloid< on the cult independent-label hazelwood in 2007. soon after the five-piece was signed by one of the biggest german booking agencies fkp-scorpio, which sent them on tour throughout europe where they proofed to be one of germanys most incredible and exciting live acts. their current album >hearts< was recorded in a big music hall over the period of one year. the aim was to catch both energy and emotions of an authentic live-on-stage situation. the recordings document the audiences most intense, dynamic and sophisticated moments, without losing their very own feeling for catchy melodies.

from its tentantive beginnings, this monster of a track quickly gains momentum. as the driving bass accelerates, megaphonic vocals kick in to create a future classic by two of technos masters. ‘free yourself’ sees phil kieran and green velvet doing what they do best. phil laces straight bass with sci-fi sounds of hiss, plink and echo landing just on the right sideof weirdness. green velvet delivers lucid and soul searching lyrics in his signature hypnotic drawl

techno and house build a strange symbiosis for darlyn vlys, without resulting in typical techhouse. when listening to the two tracks gus and heisenberg you just cant decide between groovy ass shaker and driving techno and you shouldnt! the often surprising development of the tracks combined with sophisticated transitions on the shaky but somehow secure foundation, make this special sound of the frenchman so interesting. the gus remix by affkt! comes as a crème double topping!

their forse deep remix add some shifting percussive elements, a big synth bass, lush pads while layering the main vocal theme. yoshitaca remix completes this tasty package. tokyo based producer, this talented artist was behind one of metrolines most successful releases in 2011, the beautiful just lay back ep. his approach is also deep, with slower tempo, hypnotic synths, deep bass, smooth chords and an infectious groove that will make sure you are locked on the dancefloor!

for a short period in 1981 and with brand-new equipment such as roland 808, sh 101, gr 500, we made some 8-track just for fun jam tapes. mainly just to experiment for our own pleasure. from those sessions, only white horse made it to a final treatment. the rest of the material was left behind, as our record company at the time found it too different. after white horse being a track indeed defining our sound, we thought it would be interesting to dig out left-overs to fulfill a documentation of that period - crucial for us at the time. we were still innocent newcomers, without actually knowing to be creating a new sound! recently, that left-over material was transferred from analogue to digital and, to stay as true as possible to original intentions, we only added vocals, bass and drumbeats ahead of a final mix. we hope that you will enjoy listening to it. good vibes from laid back copenhagen 2012.
